Is It A Car Or A Cell Phone?

Remember what happens when you drop yourself into the toilet? Right, it overheats, and then it simply stopped working; well, that’s more or less what happened to “The Bug” today.

On our way to Toronto from Ottawa, we decided to stop for a quick bite to eat, and since I felt the car needed some extra TLC because of the rain this past week, and the proximity of a car wash, I decided it was time to get another beauty treatment.

Well, the car really looked great after I finished washing it, BUT the passenger window wouldn’t go up (and it was down, so that was a REAL problem), and the top wouldn’t come down (and that’s another problem since this is a convertible, and the top is INDEED supposed to go down! LOL).

Of course, when do these kind of things happen? On a weekend!

To make a long story short, we took it to the Bug’s ER, where no one was on duty (being a Saturday we knew that already…). They suggested we go to a Canadian Tire and try to see if it was just a fuse that was gone or something more serious. The checked the car and told us that the motor for the passenger side’s power window was gone, and that therefore, the only thing to do was to put the window back up, and wait until Monday in Toronto, which is exactly what we’re going to do. So, yes, some unexpected events might slow down our schedule, but we’re already planning on making up time if that will really be the case.

The drive from Ottawa, ON to Toronto, ON was simply beautiful. We went through Rockport, ON and decided to take the 1,000 Islands Parkway, we put the top down (that was before the “incident” at the car wash) and just enjoyed the wonderful weather. The islands looks fabulous from the parkway, and I’ve also been able to snap some nice pictures. What really intrigued me is the fact that people (RICH people) have house on these islands, and as documented in the pictures, some islands only have one house, which makes me think those are totally private ones!

Here goes one of the houses:

Dan and Ray, our two hosts for a few days are such nice guys, it would make anybody say thanks for knowing them. They have a beautiful place not too far from downtown, but far enough to be quiet and peaceful as I like it. This evening, when we got back home we also met the neighbors, which was also another pleasant experience. This certainly looks like a friendly neighborhood where people care for each other and they try to help one another to live a better life.

View of downtown from their place:

Tomorrow we’re probably taking the street car to Downtown Toronto and do some sightseeing, hoping the weather will be nice.

It’s been quite a day today, I guess it’s all.

Good night,
Nico
